Eni Refining & Marketing’s Quality Management System for Wholesale, Commercial and Industrial processes has obtained the certification in conformity with the new norm.
On May 18th 2017, Eni Refining & Marketing has obtained from certification body SGS the new certification according to UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 standard, for the Quality Management System of its Wholesale, Commercial and Industrial processes.
The certification includes Wholesale marketing and commercialization services, on domestic and foreign markets, development of new products and customer assistance for all Eni-branded oil products (all types of fuel, lubricants, bitumen, LPG -both bulk and bottled-, special products as additives, paraffin, petrolatum, solvents, process oils for elastomeric extensors, special fuels). Furthermore, R&M’s Quality Management System includes LPG storage and bottling services, commercialization, assistance and product development for aviation and navy, issuance, sale and management of Eni vouchers and commercial fuel cards.
This important goal doesn’t constitute an arrival, but a starting point, modifying the Quality vision and representing a continual improvement path for processes, which is intrinsic of the R&M Quality Management System, starting from the staples of the new norm:
- Risk culture declined for single processes;
- Context Analysis, with a specific focus on the expectations of all stakeholders, and sustainability declined for single processes;
- Internal and external communication
- Continual improvement;
- Adaptive leadership
Sustainability represents the backbone of all processes and the staple of the new norm, targeted at long-term business continuity. Processes are certified according to international norms and standards, like UNI EN ISO 9001:2015, by a third-part, SGS Italia S.p.A., also active on an international environment.
Through the Quality Management System, all of these elements, representing Eni’s spirit since always, are declined in the operating processes and transferred to all the organization’s levels.
This new approach offers great improvement opportunities for processes in terms of efficiency and effectiveness and a warranty for products and services quality, as well for all of the company’s stakeholders.
Once more, Eni’s excellence stands ahead of legislative compliance and Accredia’s directives concerning deadlines for the transition to 2015’s revision of the standard. It represents a great example of corporate quality culture, and, at the same time, a point of reference for a growth path for all the Quality sector, including certification bodies.
What is the Quality management system?
The Quality management system and the entire network of processes and the resources that are part of it, constitute a method for management which, in support to the business governance, aims at:
- reaching the planned targets;
- satisfying customers and stakeholders’ needs and expectations.
What’s the primary objective of the Quality management system?
Implementing a Quality management system within the entire structure, such that, starting from “process mapping”, it gives to the Directorate a business management improvement.
Governance organization in processes, identifying through different layers all the actors (internal and external to business) affecting results’ achievement, makes it possible to build a balanced and positive relationship among managers, employees, internal functions, suppliers, institutions (all of the stakeholders), ensuring a corporate value which is sustainable in the long-term.
How can Quality Management System contribute to corporate governance and its long-term sustainability?
Commanding and being able to govern processes is the primary task of a manager, but it is extremely important to favour a common vision of corporate goals, encompassing all the functions and employees regardless of their responsibility level. A strategic vision, shared at all levels, consolidates the awareness that team work represents the foundation of corporate success. The Whole is worth more than the single parts composing it.
What is the certification of the Quality Management System?
Certification is the “preannouncement” of the proper management of the corporate Quality management system, according to the criteria of the international norm UNI EN ISO 9001:2015. It is obtained after it is controlled and examined by an accredited external body. The challenge of the management system is constituted by making all the company’s people perceive that it is right in its operative and daily application that the reasons of its usefulness are found: certification is not the only goal, it is just one of the evaluation parameters of good processing, and of the application of corporate good practices aimed at continual improvement.
