Eni sets a new standard with 0W-20 bio-engine oil
Eni is one of the first in the world to develop biological 0W-20 engine oil: Eni i-Sint Bio Tech 0W-20. Thanks to the bio-ester base oil, the Eni i-Sint Bio Tech performs 17 percent better than the traditional 0W-20 in the Fuel Economy Test (Sequence VI-D API). The high-performance bio-engine oil thus contributes, more than ever before, to lower emissions.

Eni i-Sint Bio Tech is composed of plant-based oil with natural bio‑esters, supplemented with additives. In comparison with conventional 0W-20, the Eni i-Sint Bio Tech achieves a 17 percent improvement in the Fuel Economy Test (Sequence VI-D API). This improvement is possible due to the excellent lubrication properties at low temperatures, low volatility and high oxidation stability, while maintaining an oil change interval of 30,000 km.

0W-20 is more often becoming the standard for car manufacturers to meet the 2030 emission requirements: a 37.5% CO2 reduction. Low viscosity engine oil reduces the internal friction of the engine's rotating parts. The use of such a 'thin' oil poses two technical challenges.

Because the oil film is thinner, it is harder to maintain. The second challenge is the risk of oil volatility. After conducting intensive research, Eni has found the solution to prevent excessive friction and accelerated wear in the engine.

Eni i‑Sint Bio Tech 0W‑20 meets the requirements of all Japanese hybrid cars. European manufacturers are expected to follow suit. Eni supplies two versions of the high-performance bio-oil: the Eni i‑Sint Bio Tech 0W‑20 (for petrol and hybrid cars) and Eni i-Sigma Bio 10W-30 (for trucks).
